Sending to CHF

Who can I send CHF to?

You can send CHF to any CHF bank account in Switzerland or Liechtenstein.

What information do I need about my recipient?

You’ll need the recipient’s full name and their IBAN. This should be 21 characters long and begin with CH.

Can I pay by QR-type IBAN (QR-bill)?

Yes. To do this, you’ll need two codes found on the QR bill your recipient sent you:

  • The QR IBAN, which is 21 digits. It starts with CH, and its fifth digit is 3. This is found at the top of the invoice

  • The QR reference, which is 27 digits. This is found in the section below the QR-IBAN

When you’re setting up your payment on Wise, enter the QR-IBAN into the IBAN field. In the next step, when you are confirming your payment, you need to add the QR reference. This option is found at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t enter your QR reference, your payment won’t be successful.

How much can I send?

This depends on our limits on the currency you're sending from. If you go under or above it, we'll tell you.

How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?

Once Wise receives and converts your money, it takes 1-3 working days to arrive in your recipient’s account.

What types of transfers can I use to send CHF?

You can pay for a transfer by bank transfer, card or SWIFT.

Our CHF account can only accept CHF currency. All payments made in different currencies will be rejected and sent back to the sender account. Returns can take 15 working days or longer, depending on correspondent banks.

We accept SWIFT for international transfers, but don’t recommend it. Find out why we don’t recommend using SWIFT.

How much can I send?

You can send up to 1.3 million CHF per bank transfer. If you’re paying by card, you can send up to 3,500 CHF.

Where can I send from?

You can send CHF from any bank account inside Switzerland. You can also send CHF from bank accounts outside of Switzerland by SWIFT, but we don’t recommend it. Find out why we don’t recommend using SWIFT.

How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?

If you sent the money as a local transfer from Switzerland or Lichtenstein it usually takes 1-3 working days for your money to get to Wise. SWIFT payments from other countries can take up to 5 work days. Once we got the money, we convert it and send it out. Conversion can take up to 2 working days.

Check the guide for the currency you’re sending to for an estimate on how long it will take to arrive in your recipient’s account after we send it out. I’ve cancelled my payment, how long will my refund take?

Bank transfers take up to 1 working day, and card payments take 2 to 10 working days.
