Sending to HKD
Who can I send HKD to?
You can send HKD to any individual or business bank account in Hong Kong that’s denominated in HKD.
What information do I need about my recipient?
You send HKD to someone's local bank account details or FPS ID.
To send to a local bank account, you'll need their:
full name, in Latin characters (a–z) only
9–12 digit local account number
3-digit bank code (also known as the clearing code)
Local address
For local bank accounts, there are 2 different formats for account numbers. We need the type that starts with a 3-digit branch code, then a 6–9 digit account number. It should look like this: 123-456789-111.
To send to an FPS ID, you'll need their:
full name, in English characters (a–z) only
an email, FPS ID (7 or 9 digits), or mobile number linked to a recipient account
local address
For FPS ID, if you're sending to a mobile number, please include +852 followed by a dash. It should look like this: +852-12345678
How much can I send?
You can send up to 20 million HKD per transfer.
How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?
Once Wise receives and converts your money, it usually takes 1–3 working days to arrive in your recipient’s bank account. Conversion can take up to 2 working days.
We’ll always give you an estimate for how long your transfer will take when you set it up.

Is there any other information I need to know?
If you’re sending a lot of money, we need extra information about your transfer. This could be the date of birth of your recipient, and the reason for your transfer.
Sending from HKD
How can I pay for my transfer from HKD?
Your first HKD transfer must be paid by bank transfer. After your first transfer you can also pay with your debit/credit card.
Note: you can’t pay for a transfer by cash or cheque.
Paying by bank transfer
When paying by bank transfer, you can pay to the account number we provided to you, or to our FPS ID hkd@wise.com.
If you're sending your payment to the account number we provided to you, make sure to meet all the requirements of your bank.
For example, if your bank requires a branch code, add 8 to the first 2 digits of the account number we provided to you, and enter the rest as the actual account number. The account number we provided = 6345XXXXXXX Branch code = 863 Account number = 45XXXXXXX
If a branch code is not required, simply input the account number exactly as we provided.
How much can I send?
You can send up to 10 million HKD per transfer, depending on how you pay. If you pay by card, for example, the limit is lower — but you’ll only see the option to pay by card if you’re sending less than the limit.
Where can I send from?
You can send HKD to Wise from banks within Hong Kong and via Swift.
How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?
It usually takes 0–2 working days for your money to get to Wise, depending on how you pay for your transfer. Then, we convert it and send it out. Conversion can take up to 2 working days.

Are there any restrictions on sending from HKD?
Not all types of businesses can send money from HKD using Wise. We support transfers from sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies only.
I’ve cancelled my payment, how long will my refund take?
We’ll let you know when we’ve refunded your money. The time it takes for you to get your refund depends on how you paid,
Bank transfers take up to 1 working day
Card payments take 2–10 working days
Make sure to wait until the above time frame has passed before getting in touch about a refund — we’re not able to speed up the process.
