If you have a Wise personal or Business account, and your registered address is in Hungary, you might notice increased fees from February 2025. These are variable fees on top of the regular fees you pay when you use our services.
The fee increase isn't specific to transactions in Hungarian Forint — other currencies are also impacted by this price change.

Why is this happening?
This change is due to local tax regulations in Hungary, which make it more expensive for us to offer certain services in the country.
Like any other financial institution that operates and services customers in Hungary, Wise is impacted by local rules, including the Hungarian Financial Transactions Tax Act.
Why increase fees?
We regularly review our fees to reflect the cost of moving your money.
In October 2024, the Hungarian government introduced changes to the Financial Transactions Tax Act on currency conversion transactions. As Wise is subject to these rules we’ve revisited our costs and adjusted fees for customers with a registered address in Hungary.
We remain committed to communicating any changes transparently and ensuring that our customers never pay more than they need to.

What's changing?
You'll see a price increase on top of the usual fees we charge you, when using one of these services:
Paying for a transfer on Wise, either by bank transfer or card payment
Sending money from your Wise balance to either a bank account outside of Wise, or to another Wise account
Withdrawing cash with your Wise card

How the changes affect your personal account
These changes affect transactions in any currency. The table shows fee changes for same-currency transfers (HUF to HUF, EUR to EUR), and also cross-currency transfers (HUF to USD, EUR to HUF, USD to GBP).
The limits and examples are stated in HUF, but if you're using another currency, then it's the equivalent in that currency to the amount in HUF.

Examples
Right now, we charge you a 325 HUF fixed fee if you pay for a transfer on Wise via bank transfer in the same currency. If you send 100,000 HUF to HUF from February 2025, you'll pay the 325 HUF fixed fee, plus a 0.45% of the amount. This means your total fee will be 773 HUF — this is the same for Wise Business accounts.
Right now, we don't charge anything when you send money from your Wise balance to another Wise account, or to an account outside of Wise, in the same currency. If you pay out up to 50,000 HUF from your HUF balance after February 2025, you still won't be charged anything. But if you pay out more, we'll charge 0.45% on the amount after the fee-free 50,000. This means if you pay out 100,000 HUF to HUF, your total fee will be 224 HUF.

Examples
Right now, we charge you a 362 HUF fixed fee if you pay for a transfer on Wise via bank transfer in different currencies, plus a 0.77% variable fee. If you send 100,000 HUF to EUR from February 2025, you'll pay the 362 HUF fixed fee plus a 1.67% of the amount. This means your total fee will be 2,009 HUF — this is the same for personal accounts.
Right now, we don't charge anything when you send money from your Wise balance to another Wise account, or to an account outside of Wise, in the same currency. If you pay out 100,000 HUF from your HUF balance after February 2025, you'll pay a 0.45% of the amount after the fee-free. This means your total fee will be 448 HUF.
