When you log in or use the Wise app, you might see a message stating that Wise cannot be used while your screen is being recorded, shared, or monitored.
To protect your financial data and prevent unauthorised fraud, Wise doesn't allow our app to run while other applications are actively viewing or controlling your screen. This security measure aligns with strict regulatory requirements by the Bank of Thailand to protect users from remote-access malware and scams.
What triggers this security block?
The Wise app will temporarily restrict access if it detects any of the following active behaviours on your device:
Screen recording or taking screenshots
Screen mirroring or broadcasting to another device (e.g., AirPlay, Chromecast)
Remote control access or remote view granted to a third-party app (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, Zoom screen sharing)
How can I fix this?
To resume using the Wise app as usual, you must stop the activity or close the app that is viewing your screen.
If you're actively sharing or recording your screen:
Stop any active screen recording, mirroring, or video calls where you're sharing your screen
Force close the Wise app and open it again
If you don't think you're sharing your screen, a background application might have hidden permissions enabled:
On iPhone or iPad: Check if there's a red or blue recording/mirroring icon at the top of your screen. Close any background communication or streaming apps
On Android: Check your notification bar at the top of the screen for a recording icon (such as a green dot, a camera icon, or a screen-share symbol). Pull down your notification panel to see if any apps are currently casting, recording, or displaying over other apps, and close them. If the issue persists, go to Settings > Apps and force close any active video call, streaming, or remote-support applications.
Once the screen-sharing or recording behaviour stops, you'll be able to access your Wise app immediately.
What if I still need help?
If you're unable to identify which app is causing the block, or if you need to perform an urgent transaction, you can:
Use Wise on your computer at Wise.com
Temporarily uninstall any recent remote-support or screen-sharing apps you may have downloaded at the request of a third party
Security Note: Wise will never ask you to download a third-party app to view your screen or guide you through a transaction. If someone claiming to be from Wise or a government agency asks you to do this, please hang up and report it to us immediately.
