How the Wise - e-Boekhouden integration works

Connecting your Wise Business account with e-Boekhouden allows your currency transactions to automatically sync. This saves you time on manual data entry and helps keep your multi-currency bookkeeping up to date.

The connection is securely facilitated by Chift, which acts as an intermediary to ensure reliable, automated data transfer between Wise and e-Boekhouden.

Before you start: Generate your API key

Before you start the connection process in Wise, you must get your API token in your e-Boekhouden.nl account.

Important: The user that generates the API key must have full access to e-Boekhouden.

  1. Log in to your e-Boekhouden.nl account.

  2. Go to Beheer (Management) in the top menu.

  3. Under Inrichting, select Koppelingen (Links) from the side menu.

  4. In the API section, find e-Boekhouden API and click Verder.

  5. Create a new API token by clicking on Toevoegen.

  6. Name your API and immediately, COPY THE TOKEN and save it.

    • Important: The token is displayed only once, so make sure to save it. Otherwise, you will need to generate a new token.

    • You do not need to set an end date for the token. We recommend leaving this blank.

  7. Keep your browser tab open or copy these details down — you will need them during the setup in Wise.

How to connect to e-Boekhouden.nl

You can invite your bookkeeper or accountant to your business account as a team member to handle this setup. To connect to accounting software, you need to grant them the Manage software integrations and tools permission.

Follow these steps on the Wise website to set up your connection:

  1. Log in to your Wise Business account on the web.

  2. Select your business name in the top corner.

  3. Go to Connect and Manage Apps.

  4. Select e-Boekhouden.nl and click Connect.

  5. You will be redirected to the Chift authorization page.

  6. Choose a name for the connection and select the country of your e-Boekhouden account.

  7. Enter your API token: Paste the token generated during the preparation step.

  8. Choose which currencies to connect: You’ll be shown a list of your Wise currency accounts and a dropdown menu of bank accounts from your e-Boekhouden administration.

    • Map each Wise currency to the corresponding General Ledger account you created in e-Boekhouden.

  9. Select your suspense/clearing account: This is usually ledger account 2999 (Kruisposten). Ensure this account is different from the bank accounts used in the previous step.

  10. Confirm your setup.

What happens after I’ve connected?

Once connected, transactions from your selected currencies will automatically sync with e-Boekhouden.nl and appear under the associated journals as entries under Mutaties.

How often does my data sync?

When setting up your connection we will ask you how often you want your account to be synced with your accounting software.

You can choose how often their data syncs from the below options:

  • Every 4 hours

  • Daily (choose the hour)

  • Weekly (choose the day and hour)

  • Monthly (choose the date and hour)

To change the sync frequency:

  1. Go to Connect and manage apps.

  2. Click on the e-Boekhouden software connection.

  3. Go to Bank feed.

  4. Click View sync settings.

  5. Under Configurations, use the drop-down to choose how often to sync.

  6. Set the hour or date, based on the option chosen.

Which countries is the e-Boekhouden integration available in?

The integration is currently available for businesses registered in the Netherlands and Belgium.

What if I open a new currency account later?

If you activate a new currency (like USD) in your Wise account and want to sync those transactions, go to your Connection settings in Wise, select the new currency, and map it to a new bank account in e-Boekhouden.
