When you sign up to Wise as a sole trader, you'll need to give some details about your business.
Personal details and ID for the account owner
We'll always verify the personal ID of the business owner. We don't accept driving licenses for this step, so you need use a valid passport, national ID, or a similar document.
We'll also need to collect the owner's personal details, including their full name, date of birth, country of residence, and full residential address.
Business name and registration number
You'll need to provide your official registration number when you open an account. Depending on your country, this can be a business number, a VAT number, or a taxpayer identification number (TIN).
You can use your personal name for your business, but you can also use a trading name if you have one.
Business address
You'll need to provide your registered business address. It's normal for sole traders to use their personal address as their registered business address.
If your personal address and your business address are different, we may ask you to upload a proof of business address document. We will also ask you to confirm your trading address.
Details about your business activities
To better understand your business, we will ask you to declare your account purpose and describe your business activities.
Proof of existence
We need to make sure your business is registered. If we don't find you in the relevant registry, we'll ask you to upload a document. Your documents must meet the following requirements:
The document is currently valid (not expired) or issued within the last 6 months
If we request a bank statement as supporting proof, it must also be from the last 6 months and show at least one full month of account activity.
Account limits
You can only have one sole trader account per country for a specific business activity. If you want to open a second account in the same country, it must be for a distinctly different business purpose.
