2-step login is a way to make your Wise account more secure. The 2 steps are:
Enter your password
Approve the login on the Wise app, or with a code by SMS or phone call
Benefits of 2-step login
Even if someone finds your password, they won’t be able to get into your account if you’ve set up 2-step login.
You’ll also be able to see that someone else has tried to log in, because you’ll get a code or notification.
Types of 2-step login
There are 2 types of 2-step login — a code by SMS or phone call, or a notification in the Wise app.
If you choose the first one, we’ll send you a code by SMS or phone call when you try to log in to Wise. You’ll need to enter this before you can get into your account.
If you choose to use the app, we’ll send you a push notification when you try to log in. You’ll just need to click approve on your device.
It’s best to use the app for 2-step login. That’s because it only needs internet to work, and it’ll work if you change your SIM or travel abroad. It’s also easier than using SMS — you don’t need to enter a code.
