How do I change my 2-step verification settings?

You have 3 options to use for 2-step verification: You can receive a code by text message or phone call, receive a push notification in the Wise app, or use a separate authenticator app.

Using the app is more reliable because it only needs internet connection to work. It’s the best option if you have problems with your phone, or if you’re planning to travel.

You can download the Wise app for free from the App Store or Google Play.

How to check your 2-step verification settings

On the website:

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner and select Settings

  2. Click 2-step verification, then Change 2-step verification settings

  3. On your 2-step verification page, you’ll see your current verification methods, other verification methods and an option to Edit default

On the app:

  1. Tap your initials or profile picture in the top-left corner

  2. Select Privacy & Security and tap 2-step login

  3. On your 2-step verification page, you’ll see your current verification methods, other verification methods and an option to Change default

Set or change your phone number as your 2-step verification method

2-step verification with your phone number can't be removed from Current verification methods, but you can change the default to other verification methods.

To set a Text message as default, follow the steps under: How to change your default 2-step verification method.

You can also select how we contact you on your phone: via SMS, voice call or WhatsApp. On the website, go to your 2-step verification page, select Text message and choose from SMS, Voice call and WhatsApp. Your registered phone number has to be the same for WhatsApp to work.

To change your registered phone number, select Text message and Change, then follow the instructions we send you to your email.
