What is the mid-market exchange rate?
The mid-market exchange rate is the standard rate used for currency conversion. It’s the rate you might see online, but many banks will add a markup to make a profit from your transaction. You can use the mid-market exchange rate to convert your Canadian dollars without excessive markups, fees or margins. You’ll only pay for what you spend.

Whether you’re buying tickets in France or getting groceries in the US, use your Wise prepaid travel card to save money on currency conversion fees.

Let’s compare the conversion costs of a few popular Canadian bank cards and the Wise card.

This can add a hefty charge to international payments in foreign currencies – and it can make an even bigger difference to how much you spend.
