We may close your account if you use it in a way that goes against our Customer Agreement — please check the relevant contract for your region.
In some cases, for example where activity in the account goes against our Acceptable Use Policy for your region, we’re able to give you more notice about closing your account. We’ll send you an email with the date when we’re fully closing your account and you’ll see a banner when you log in.

What going against the Acceptable Use Policy means
This could mean that we noticed:
exchange or trading of cryptocurrencies, or any other virtual currencies
payments for other non-regulated or illegal products and services
payments for restricted items, such as weaponry, military goods and services, or certain nonprofits
These are just examples — you can find more reasons in our Acceptable Use Policy. Our policies are there to keep your and everyone else’s money safe, and they’re an important part of how we’re regulated.
We know how disruptive and unexpected this can be. We never take decisions to close accounts lightly, and they are handled with utmost attention and consideration.
Before we fully close your account
Before your account fully closes, you’ll still have access to your money.
You can:
withdraw your money
send money from your balance
spend your balance with your Wise card
You can't:
add money to your account
receive money into your account
pay bills or monthly subscriptions by Direct Debit — any current Direct Debits will be cancelled
Before it's closed, make sure you:
move all your money to an account that’s not with Wise
let people know they can no longer send money to your Wise account — any money sent to you after we’ve notified you that we’re closing your account will be automatically returned to the sender
download any statements you might need for tax purposes
After your account fully closes
Once your account is closed, you can no longer log in, or access your account details and history.
Appealing the decision
If you’re not happy with our decision to close your account, you can appeal it.
Once you make an appeal, we'll let you know if we can review your case and what other steps you can take. Making an appeal doesn't mean we'll automatically change our decision.
